Pass the Phone Game
The pass the phone game is exactly what it sounds like: one phone, a circle of friends, and a stack of prompts that get passed around the room. Someone reads a prompt out loud, decides which player it fits best, and physically hands the phone to that person. No board, no second device, no signup, no rules to memorize. It is the party game that already lives in your pocket.
This is the official home of Pass the Phone, the app that turns that simple loop into a full game: 300+ prompts across five free modes, a reveal screen that shows who picked whom, and a Wrapped-style summary at the end of every round. It runs completely offline and works for 3 to 8 players. Below you'll find how to play, sample prompts, and the questions people ask most.
Sample Pass the Phone Prompts
- Pass the phone to the one most likely to text back in three seconds
- Pass the phone to the worst liar in the group
- Pass the phone to the one who would survive longest in a zombie movie
- Pass the phone to the secret romantic
- Pass the phone to the one most likely to cry at a wedding
- Pass the phone to the one who tells the best stories

The whole game runs on one phone. Add 3 to 8 player names, pick a mode, and hit start. A prompt appears, for example "Pass the phone to the worst liar in the group." Whoever holds the phone reads it out loud, picks the player it fits, and passes the phone to them. That player reads the next prompt and does the same. You keep going until the round ends.
You can play straight from the sample list above, or let the Pass the Phone app run it: automatic prompts, pass-the-phone transitions, a reveal screen that shows who picked whom, and a Wrapped-style summary at the end. Five modes are free (Party Starter, Friends & Family, Couples, plus more), it works offline, and there is no signup.

What is the pass the phone game?
The pass the phone game is a party game played on a single phone. One person reads a prompt, decides which player it fits, and passes the phone to that person, who reads the next prompt. After a round, a reveal shows who got picked the most and where everyone agreed. Pass the Phone is the app version: 300+ prompts, five free modes, a reveal screen, and a Wrapped-style summary, all on one device.
How do you play pass the phone?
Gather 3 to 8 people around one phone. Read a prompt out loud, pick the player it describes, and hand them the phone. They read the next prompt and pass it on. Keep going for 10, 20, or 30 prompts. At the end, the reveal screen shows who was picked most, who flew under the radar, and which pairs kept choosing each other.
How many players do you need?
Three is the minimum for the passing dynamic to feel fun, and the sweet spot is four to six. The Pass the Phone app supports up to 8 players with custom names. With a bigger group, split into two circles and compare reveals at the end.
Is Pass the Phone free?
Yes. The app is free to download with five modes unlocked and no paywall on core gameplay. Spicy mode (adult) and Mixed mode are a premium unlock: $3.99/month or a one-time $14.99 lifetime. There is no trial and no recurring surprise charge.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Once installed, Pass the Phone runs fully offline. No Wi-Fi, no cell signal, no account, and no cloud sync of who picked whom. Your game stays on your phone, which is exactly what you want on a road trip or a flight.
